This Cookie Policy explains how Chippewacab ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies on https://www.chippewacab.com/ (the "Website"). The short version: we store very little, we use no third-party cookies or trackers, and everything we store stays in your browser. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cookies and Local Storage Are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device through your browser. They are sent back to the website with each request, which lets the site remember information such as login status or preferences. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called "first-party" cookies; cookies set by other domains, such as advertising or analytics companies, are called "third-party" cookies.
Web storage is a similar browser feature that lets a website store small pieces of data on your device. It comes in two forms:
- localStorage — data persists after you close the browser and remains until it is deleted by the website or cleared by you; and
- sessionStorage — data lasts only for the current browser tab session and is deleted automatically when you close that tab.
Unlike cookies, web storage data is not automatically sent to the web server with each request. It stays on your device and is read only by scripts running on the Website. Privacy laws and regulators generally treat web storage in the same way as cookies, so we describe both in this policy and ask for your consent through our cookie banner.
2. What We Use
The Website is a static site with self-hosted fonts and scripts. We do not use accounts, shopping carts, or advertising. As a result, we use only two storage items, both first-party and both limited to supporting basic features you use:

Neither item is transmitted to our servers or shared with anyone else. The consent record contains only your choice and does not identify you. The form name item exists only briefly and only if you submit the form.
Categories explained
Cookie and storage items are commonly grouped by what they do. We use this terminology so you can compare our practices with other websites:
- Strictly necessary — items required for the Website to work as you request or to comply with legal obligations, such as remembering your consent choice. These do not require consent under most privacy laws, but we still disclose them here.
- Functional — items that improve your experience, such as the personalized greeting on our thank-you page. The Website works normally without them.
- Analytics — items that measure how visitors use a site. We do not use any at this time.
- Advertising and tracking — items that follow you across websites to build interest profiles or measure ads. We do not use any, and we have no plans to.
Because we avoid third-party services entirely, no outside company can read the items listed above, and no information from your visit is used to show you advertising elsewhere on the internet. If you decline optional storage in the banner, the functional greeting is skipped and the thank-you page shows a general message instead; every other feature of the Website continues to work.
3. No Third-Party Cookies
We do not currently use any third-party cookies or tracking technologies. Specifically, the Website does not use:
- Analytics tools such as visitor counters or behavior tracking services;
- Advertising or retargeting cookies, tracking pixels, or conversion tags;
- Social media plugins, share buttons, or embedded feeds that set their own cookies;
- Third-party fonts, content delivery networks, or embedded maps and videos that can track visitors across sites.
Our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and secure the Website. This is not done through cookies and is described in our Privacy Policy.
If we decide to add website analytics in the future to understand which pages are helpful, we will load such tools only after you give consent through the cookie banner, we will update the table above before doing so, and we will honor Global Privacy Control signals as described in our Privacy Policy.
4. How to Manage or Withdraw Your Consent
When you first visit the Website, a banner asks for your cookie preference. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by opening the cookie settings panel here: Cookie settings. A link to the same settings is also available in the Website footer.
Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal. Because the consent record is strictly necessary to remember your choice, we will continue to store that record even if you decline optional storage. If you clear it, the banner will simply appear again on your next visit.
You can also delete stored data directly through your browser. Clearing "cookies and site data" for chippewacab.com removes both items listed above. Blocking all storage for our site will not prevent you from reading content or sending the contact form, but the consent banner will appear on each visit.
5. Browser Instructions
Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies and site data. Menu names change occasionally between versions, so the paths below are general guidance.
Google Chrome
Open the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and choose Settings, then Privacy and security. Select Third-party cookies to control cross-site cookies, or choose Site settings, then View permissions and data stored across sites, to search for chippewacab.com and delete its data. To clear everything, use Delete browsing data and check "Cookies and other site data."
Mozilla Firefox
Open the menu (three horizontal lines) and choose Settings, then Privacy & Security. Under Cookies and Site Data, select Manage Data to find and remove data for chippewacab.com, or Clear Data to remove all stored data. Enhanced Tracking Protection settings on the same page control blocking of third-party trackers.
Apple Safari
On a Mac, open Safari in the menu bar, choose Settings (or Preferences), then the Privacy tab. Select Manage Website Data to search for chippewacab.com and remove it. You can also enable "Block all cookies" there. On iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, tap Safari, then Advanced and Website Data to remove data for individual sites, or tap Clear History and Website Data.
Microsoft Edge
Open the three-dot menu and choose Settings, then Cookies and site permissions. Select Manage and delete cookies and site data, then See all cookies and site data to search for chippewacab.com and delete it. To clear everything, go to Privacy, search, and services and choose Clear browsing data.
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if we change the storage items we use, add optional features such as analytics, or respond to changes in law or browser technology. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, if we add any non-essential storage, we will ask for your consent again through the cookie banner before it is used.
